The rising unemployment in India in 2019 is a big headache for the government. The potential benefit of the demographic dividend is squandered through poor educational policies that have left the vastmajority of the employable-age youth with poor skills and qualifications, in terms of employability. A huge chunk of the youth is qualified with no more than 10th pass or 12th pass qualifications. Even those who have cleared undergraduate degrees have not equipped themselves with employable skills, which makes it difficult for them to be employed. Consequently, most of them are looking to land up in some sort of Govt Job with any qualifications like 10th pass jobs, 12th pass jobs, ITI jobs and the likes of it.
